Ethiopië: Fano zet zijn offensief in de staat Amhara voort. De Amhaarse milities hebben naar verluidt de volledige controle over de stad Dabat en zouden ook de nabijgelegen stad Debarq, ten noorden van Gondar, hebben ingenomen.

Turkije wil Somalië en Ethiopië apart ontmoeten voor nieuwe bemiddelingsgesprekken. Turkije wil een derde ronde van gesprekken organiseren om te bemiddelen tussen Somalië en Ethiopië in een poging om een geschil op te lossen over de overeenkomst van Ethiopië om een stuk kustlijn van 20 kilometer te leasen van Somaliland. Deze deal, waarbij Ethiopië ook de onafhankelijkheid van Somaliland erkende, veroorzaakte een aanzienlijke breuk met Somalië, dat de overeenkomst als illegaal beschouwt. Als reactie hierop heeft Mogadishu de Ethiopische ambassadeur uitgewezen en gedreigd Ethiopische troepen die in Somalië gestationeerd zijn en helpen bij de strijd tegen islamitische opstandelingen, te verwijderen. Turkije heeft al twee rondes van gesprekken tussen de twee Oost-Afrikaanse landen gefaciliteerd, maar een derde ronde die gepland stond voor dinsdag in Ankara is geannuleerd.

Egyptian Foreign Minister's to the UN Security Council on the developments of the Ethiopian dam: Egypt is almost entirely dependent on the Nile River for its renewable water resources, which are indispensable for meeting the vital humanitarian needs and basic rights of Egyptians.
